After approx. 2.5 km there is a left turn, which goes down to the summer farms at Stikkilsdalen. You may want to take a detour down to them.
It is now 4 km up to Skåkåsvollan from the junction. The whole section from Småsetran and Kitron is a steady climb.
At Skåkåsvollan the off-road part of the route starts. Here you take a path to the right (southwards), and after approx. 500 metres you will meet the DNT path marked with red Ts (Røros–Marenvollen). You should turn right down this path (north–westwards). If you take a detour to the left you will get to Skåkåssteinen, a huge boulder left by the retreating glacier.
You should follow the DNT path back to Småsetran and Røros, but if you want some additional challenges you can turn off at one of the paths that goes down towards Hådalen and Dalsveien. If you do, you will need to keep a close eye on our map!

AttractionsMany of the miners at the copper works had their own farms, and many had houses and cowsheds along the roads. The farmers from Røros had their meadows and pasture lands at Småsetran. Barns, summer farms and cowsheds bear witness to this. Now Småsetran is protected. Skåkåsfjellet provides an excellent viewpoint, giving you a panoramic view of the Røros countryside.
RestaurantThere aren’t any cafés or restaurants along the route, but there are lots of places to eat in Røros. They offer everything from everyday fare to gourmet food. Local ingredients are used extensively.
